Nevada Way, shops, coffee, and old Boulder City
Nevada Way is the main drag through Boulder City, and it is walkable, shaded, and lined with local shops and restaurants. This is not a manufactured “historic district.” The town was planned and built by the federal government during the Depression.

Lake Mead’s entrance is just outside town. Kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming at Boulder Beach, or just driving the scenic lakeshore road all give you the outdoor side of Boulder City.

A small, weird, wonderful museum filled with movie-quality monster props and masks built by a professional Hollywood special effects artist. Not the kind of thing you would expect in a quiet desert town, and that is exactly why it works.

Weekend train rides and restored locomotives
If you have kids or any interest in trains, the Nevada State Railroad Museum runs historic train rides on weekends. The museum itself covers Nevada’s railroad history and has restored locomotives on display.
The train ride loops through the desert south of town. It is short, scenic, and easy with kids.
Boulder City Brewery & Local Food Scene
Eat and drink like a local
Part of doing a town right is eating and drinking like a local. Boulder City has a strong food scene for its size. Boulder Dam Brewing Co. is the anchor, with house-brewed beer and solid pub food on a downtown patio. But there is plenty more.
