Saturday’s downtown trick-or-treat runs until 6pm. The first Halloween Express leaves at 5:30pm. If your family wants both, you will have to leave the shops early or choose a later train.

For October 23 to 25, pick the event you most want to attend before committing to a second one. Several of this weekend’s evening programs overlap.

The short version

  • Boulder BOOlevard is Saturday, October 24, from 3pm to 6pm in the Historic District.
  • The library’s Boo-gie Bash runs Saturday from 1pm to 3pm at a separate location on Adams Boulevard.
  • Halloween Express departures are 5:30pm, 6:30pm and 7:30pm on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets require advance attention; availability can change.
  • Chautauqua offers Friday and Saturday history performances. Fergie’s Fun Fright opens Friday through Sunday evenings.

We checked the organizer schedules on October 21, 2026, and compared the overlapping times below. We have not attended these upcoming performances or tested the haunted attractions. For other dates, see the Boulder City events calendar.

What can families do Saturday afternoon?

Start with Boo-gie Bash at Boulder City Library from 1pm to 3pm, or choose Boulder BOOlevard downtown from 3pm to 6pm on Saturday, October 24. The events are at different locations, so attending both means allowing travel time rather than expecting an immediate handoff at 3pm.

Boo-gie Bash has Halloween games and music in the combined Community and Board Room at 701 Adams Boulevard. The listing includes teens as well as younger children. It does not state an admission charge, so we are not assigning it a price.

Boulder BOOlevard takes the candy collecting to Historic District businesses. Costumes and all ages are welcome. This is the October 24 downtown event, not Halloween night on October 31.

Going to the library first leaves less than the full three-hour downtown window once you account for getting there. Families who mainly want the shop-to-shop trick-or-treat can skip the earlier program instead of rushing through both.

Which Halloween train should you choose?

The Halloween Express leaves at 5:30pm, 6:30pm and 7:30pm on both October 24 and 25. Choose the train time before deciding how long to stay downtown Saturday. A 5:30pm departure overlaps Boulder BOOlevard; a later departure gives you more separation, but still requires time to reach the museum.

The special-event train ride includes a Monster Mash dance party and costume contest. These are ticketed trains, not a promise that you can arrive whenever you finish shopping. Check remaining tickets and boarding instructions before leaving home.

The Nevada State Railroad Museum is at 1000 Boulder City Parkway, separate from the downtown trick-or-treat. Do not use regular excursion admission as the Halloween ticket price.

What is happening Friday evening besides Halloween?

Boulder City Chautauqua opens Friday, October 23, with Terry Lynch portraying Paul Revere at 6:30pm. Saturday brings Martha Washington at 2pm and Alexander Hamilton at 6:30pm. All three performances are at Boulder Creek Pavilion, so choose the character and time that suit your group rather than treating them as one continuous show.

Spark of a New Nation uses historical portrayals. Katharine Pittman plays Martha Washington; Hal Bidlack plays Alexander Hamilton. Admission is $20 per performance. Check child-admission arrangements directly with the organizer before buying.

The pavilion is at 1501 Veterans Memorial Drive. Buy tickets through the organizer’s listed options and check availability. Friday’s performance gives history fans a way to attend Chautauqua without competing with Saturday’s Halloween train schedule.

Where can you go for a Halloween maze?

Fergie’s Fun Fright opens Friday, October 23, through Sunday, October 25, from 6pm to 9pm each night. Admission is free, with nonperishable food donations welcomed for Emergency Aid of Boulder City. The blacklight maze has both a scary section and a gentler Halloween section; choose based on your child’s comfort.

Fergie’s Fun Fright welcomes costumes and groups. Check the organizer’s directions before setting out. Strobe lights and animatronics are part of the display, which matters more than the broad family-friendly label if someone in your group has a sensory sensitivity.

Free admission does not make this the right choice for every child. The library afternoon or downtown trick-or-treat is an alternative for families who do not want a haunted attraction. Sunday’s opening also gives you another evening instead of adding a third event to Saturday.

Which events should you avoid booking together?

Do not book Saturday’s 6:30pm Alexander Hamilton performance and the 6:30pm Halloween Express for the same person. They start simultaneously at different venues. Also avoid promising the entire downtown trick-or-treat window alongside the 5:30pm train. Pick one fixed commitment, then leave room for travel and a meal.

Our schedule comparison turned up three practical conflicts: the library program ends when downtown trick-or-treat begins; the earliest train leaves before downtown finishes; and the Hamilton performance shares a start time with the middle train. Those are timing conflicts, not judgments about which event is better.

If you need food before leaving, check the Coffee Cup profile and confirm kitchen hours directly rather than assuming a breakfast restaurant will cover dinner. The Boulder City things-to-do guide has other choices if your preferred event sells out.

For a young family, we would choose downtown trick-or-treat plus one evening activity, not all of Saturday’s programs. History fans can take Friday’s Paul Revere performance and leave Saturday open. Buying fewer overlapping tickets gives everyone more time at the event they came for.

What else should you know about this weekend?

Use the date-specific organizer links before buying tickets or driving to a venue. This guide covers Friday, October 23, through Sunday, October 25, 2026, not Halloween weekend itself. Ticket availability can change, and an event without a published admission charge should not automatically be described as free.

Is Boulder BOOlevard on Halloween night?

No. Boulder BOOlevard is Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 3pm to 6pm in Boulder City’s Historic District. Halloween falls on October 31. Keep those dates separate when inviting friends, arranging a costume, or comparing this downtown business event with other Halloween activities later in the month.

Are regular train tickets valid for Halloween Express?

Treat Halloween Express as a separately ticketed special event. Use the Halloween Express booking link rather than regular excursion information to choose a departure and check the current price. Confirm your ticket date and boarding instructions before traveling; a general museum visit does not establish a reserved Halloween seat.

Can children attend the Chautauqua performances?

Check child-admission arrangements with Chautauqua before buying. The organizer lists tickets at $20 per performance, but we did not verify a separate child rate. Choose the portrayal your child is interested in and confirm admission details directly. Do not assume that a family ticket or free child seat is included.

Does Fergie’s Fun Fright require a food donation?

The event welcomes nonperishable food donations for Emergency Aid of Boulder City and lists free admission. Bring a donation if you can. Check the organizer’s current details for directions and accessibility questions, especially if strobe lights or animatronics could make a maze uncomfortable for someone in your group.

Should you try to attend everything on Saturday?

No. Several Saturday activities overlap, and the venues are not all in one place. Choose the event you most want first, then add only what leaves enough travel time. A library afternoon and downtown candy collecting may suit one family; a single evening history performance may suit another.

Book your one fixed-time event first. Leave the rest of the evening open enough to enjoy it.
