A campsite that fits your RV may still have nowhere to plug it in. Near Boulder City, that is the main difference between Boulder Beach Campground and Lake Mead RV Village. Both put you near the lake, but they suit different ways of spending the night.

For a tent trip, we would start with Boulder Beach Campground. For an RV stay that needs utilities at the site, choose the RV Village.

Before you reserve

  • Boulder Beach Campground accommodates tents and RVs, without hookups.
  • Lake Mead RV Village has power, water and sewer at its RV sites.
  • Boulder Beach reservations go through Recreation.gov, including same-day bookings.
  • Lake Mead entrance fees are separate from camping fees.

Where should you camp with a tent near Boulder City?

Start with Boulder Beach Campground if you want a developed tent site near Lake Mead. It has paved campsites with picnic tables and fire pits or grills, plus shared restrooms and water spigots. Reserve a site through Recreation.gov before arriving; a same-day reservation is allowed.

The Boulder Beach reservation page lists flush toilets, but no showers. That matters more on a longer stay than on a single night with a short packing list. There is also an RV dump station and water refill station near the campground entrance.

You can bring an RV here, too, if your setup works without site hookups. Check the individual site’s dimensions against your vehicle before reserving. We would choose this campground for a tent weekend, rather than pay for an RV site’s utilities we would not use.

For outings away from camp, browse our things to do in Boulder City guide. You can spend an afternoon downtown instead of making every activity a lake outing.

Which nearby campground has RV hookups?

Choose Lake Mead RV Village for an RV site with power, water and sewer. Its booking process is separate from the National Park Service campground. Lake-view sites can be booked online, while pull-through and back-in reservations go through the reservations team by phone. Choose the site type before booking.

The RV Village’s official page has the booking link and reservations number. It also lists an on-site convenience store and laundry facilities, useful when camping is part of a longer road trip.

The Village requires RV units to meet RVIA standards. Read that requirement before paying a deposit, especially if your camping setup is a conversion or something other than a conventional RV.

We would choose the hookups over the NPS campground if the trailer’s utilities are important to the stay. A self-contained RV that does not need those connections can still use Boulder Beach Campground.

What should you do in Boulder City before heading to camp?

Buy your groceries in town and finish any equipment errands before driving to the campground. Albertsons offers grocery pickup as well as in-store shopping. For a hardware errand, True Value Home Hardware & Variety is on Canyon Road. Keep the shopping list tied to the meals and equipment you are bringing.

You can arrange a pickup time through Albertsons’ local store page. The official True Value listing has current store hours for your hardware stop.

Pack for the night as well as the afternoon. Lake Mead’s campground information notes that winter lows can reach freezing. A sunny lunch outside is not a reliable guide to how warm your sleeping bag needs to be.

Choose the campsite that suits how you sleep, then reserve it through the right booking service. Groceries can wait until you reach town; the tent site or RV hookup should already be settled.
