If you want to watch local artists work, November 7 and 8 give you two days to do it. Saturday also brings aircraft displays at the airport, a home tour and a Christmas tree auction. The main choice is how to spend Saturday afternoon: the home tour runs only from 1 to 4, while Artists in Action returns on Sunday.

  • Artists in Action is free on both days, 9am to 4pm, at the Parks & Recreation New Gym.
  • Airport Day is Saturday, November 7, 10am to 2pm, with free admission and parking.
  • The AAUW Home Tour is Saturday, November 7, 1pm to 4pm, with tickets available for a $20 donation.

Where can you watch Boulder City artists at work?

Artists in Action brings more than 30 Boulder City Art Guild artists to the Parks & Recreation New Gym at 900 Arizona Street on Saturday and Sunday, November 7 and 8. Admission is free, and the show runs from 9am to 4pm both days.

You can see artists making their work, with demonstrations in painting and pottery as well as other media. That gives children something to watch and adults a chance to ask about a technique or a piece they like. It is a show and sale, so you can also look for a gift made by a local artist.

The Guild’s regular gallery is inside Boulder Dam Hotel, but this event is at the New Gym. Head to 900 Arizona Street for the demonstrations. See the Art Guild’s event flyer.

What is happening at the airport on Saturday?

Boulder City Airport Day runs Saturday, November 7, from 10am to 2pm. Admission and parking are free. Aircraft displays and opportunities to meet pilots make this a good choice for a family with someone who stops to watch every plane overhead.

Food and beverages will be available. With the airport event ending at 2pm, an earlier visit leaves more time for something downtown afterward. See Airport Day details.

How does the AAUW Home Tour work?

The AAUW Annual Home Tour opens Boulder City homes on Saturday, November 7, from 1pm to 4pm. A $20 donation gets you a wristband and a brochure with home descriptions and maps for the self-guided tour. Tickets are available at Boulder Dam Hotel, 1305 Arizona Street.

The tour supports scholarships for local students. Children under 12 cannot attend, and some homes have stairs. For families with younger children, the art show or Airport Day is the better choice.

Keep the afternoon clear if you choose the home tour. The visiting hours are fixed because people are opening their homes. You can see Artists in Action on Sunday instead of squeezing both into the same afternoon. See AAUW’s tour and ticket details.

When is the Christmas tree auction at the hotel?

The Christmas Tree Auction is Saturday, November 7, from 11am to 6pm at Boulder Dam Hotel. Decorated trees, wreaths and holiday baskets donated by community members and businesses will be on display, with proceeds benefiting Boulder City Hospital.

Bidding takes place online during the event. Winning bidders are responsible for taking their items home after it ends, so leave room in the car if you hope to buy a tree. See the auction details.

Where can you stop between events?

For a coffee stop downtown, Dam Roast House & Browder Bookstore combines a coffee shop with books to browse. The Boulder City restaurant guide has more meal choices, and the Boulder City events calendar covers the rest of November.

If you have both days free, give the home tour its full Saturday afternoon and leave the art show for Sunday. You will have more time to talk with an artist instead of checking the clock.
