November gives you several reasons to spend a little longer in Boulder City. Watch artists at work on the first weekend, take the kids to a fall festival the next, or shop a downtown market after Thanksgiving. For a family outing, our first choice is November 14: the car show starts before the vendors, so you can choose the morning that suits your group.

  • November 7 and 8: Artists in Action, with Airport Day on Saturday only.
  • November 9: a free History Open Mic Night at Bicentennial Park.
  • November 14: Family Fall Festival, with the car show at 8am and vendors opening at 9am.
  • November 27: Last Friday’s downtown market, 4pm to 8pm.

What is happening on November 7 and 8?

Artists in Action runs Saturday and Sunday, November 7 and 8, from 9am to 4pm at the Parks & Recreation New Gym, 900 Arizona Street. Airport Day is Saturday only, 10am to 2pm, with free admission and parking. Choose Saturday for aircraft displays or Sunday for the art show alone.

At Artists in Action, you can talk with Guild artists while they make their work. The show is at the New Gym, rather than the Guild’s regular gallery inside Boulder Dam Hotel.

Airport Day brings aircraft displays and a chance to meet pilots. If you also want the home tour or Christmas tree auction, see our November 7 and 8 event guide for the afternoon choices.

Is there a free weekday event in November?

History Open Mic Night is Monday, November 9, from 6pm to 7:30pm at the Bicentennial Park gazebo, 999 Colorado Street. Admission is free. The evening invites people to share family history and local memories as part of the celebration of America’s 250th year.

This is the quieter choice if you would rather listen to neighbors’ stories than spend an afternoon at a market. Bring a family memory you would like to share, or come to hear someone else’s. History Open Mic Night details.

What time does the Family Fall Festival start?

The Family Fall Festival is Saturday, November 14, at Bicentennial Park, 999 Colorado Street. The car show runs from 8am to 3pm; vendors and food trucks run from 9am to 4pm. Live entertainment and children’s activities continue throughout the day, with proceeds benefiting Little Lambs Childcare & Preschool.

For children who want to see the cars, arrive earlier. If shopping and lunch are your main interests, come after the vendors open at 9am. That gives you a later start without missing the market. See the festival schedule and flyer.

Where can you shop on Thanksgiving weekend?

Last Friday Boulder City takes place on Friday, November 27, from 4pm to 8pm at 501 Nevada Way, at the corner of Arizona and Nevada Way. The female entrepreneur market features more than 20 women-owned businesses. It is an evening option for browsing downtown after Thanksgiving.

If you are looking for gifts, leave time to browse the stalls rather than arriving just before closing. You can also stop for coffee and books at Dam Roast House & Browder Bookstore downtown. Last Friday market details.
