My favorite thing about food is… pizza. And my favorite pizza in Boulder City is at Tony’s Pizza. Everything tastes great here – from the Ultimate Pizza to the incredible garlic knots, and even (or should I say, especially) the antipasto salads are killer. This cute little pizza place has been family-owned and operated for several generations, and has always been known as one of Boulder City’s best pizza places.

Tony’s Pizza Specials

Tony’s has ongoing, ever-changing specials ranging from crispy chicken tender sandwiches to pizza slices and fries. Keep an eye on the sign outside the door or their Facebook profile for current deals. Kids have been walking up to school for a slice of pizza and a soda for decades.

What to Order

1. The Ultimate – a white sauce pizza with sausage, tomatoes and onions.
2. The Garlic Knots
3. The Antipasto Salad
4. Be sure to ask for extra sides of marinara sauce – I’m not a tomato guy but I dip everything in this sauce!

Tony’s has some great people-watching outdoor seating. When you’re done with your pizza or pasta, the location in the heart of downtown Boulder City, NV makes for a great walk through the town’s antique stores, breweries and dessert spots, like Grandma Daisy’s for candy or ice cream.

But, hear me out.

No one ever scoffs at a recommendation of more tasty food, right?

When was the last time a friend told you about their favorite new burger place and you offendedly retorted, “Thanks, but no thanks! I’ve had my fill of good burgers. If you find a new place grilling up fresh beef, please don’t tell me about it!”

Exactly. So, let’s talk burgers.

Boulder City’s local eatery (and drinkery) scene is one of Las Vegas’ best kept, off-the-strip secrets. Less than 30 minutes from the bright lights and big casinos, Boulder City, NV proudly boasts a growing list of new restaurants, several serving a range of deliciously creative burgers.

From The Dillinger’s “The Sticky Burger” (bacon, cheddar and peanut butter) to Boulder Dam Brewing Company’s “Hatch Chili Burger” – you can’t really turn a corner in this town without finding a unique take on the American classic burger.

After trying most of them (some, several times) we’ve recently fallen in love with two unorthodox cheeseburgers: one reigns as the new champion, claiming the crown as Boulder City’s Best Burger and the other is our unexpected close runner up that almost stole the show.

Runner Up: The Greek Burger @ Greek Delights (at 2Wheels)

(Update: Greek Delights is no more, sadly. Leaving the memory of this burger live on this post, to live on in infamy.)

Even as I write this, I’m tempted to change my mind and give the trophy for Boulder City’s Best Burger to Greek Delights – their lamb + beef burger is that good. It’s everything you want a burger to be – juicy, savory, flavorful – with none of the gaminess or dryness that you might think lamb would bring to a burger. Hybrid burger for the win! (or… for the close 2nd!)

We’d heard rumors of a new Greek food truck open at the 2Wheels event space on the corner of Wyoming and Nevada Way but didn’t give it another thought until more and more people raved, posted and shared foodie pictures from this new Greek place in downtown Boulder City.

So we did it – finally made it to 2Wheels, checked out the menu and noticed the “Greek Burger.”

Like you probably guessed faster than I did, it’s a perfect mix of lamb and ground beef, topped with onions and feta cheese, served with a side of tzatziki. We almost skipped it for a traditional gyro plate but decided to go for it – which was probably the best decision I’ve made in 6 or 7 years.

Well done, Greek Delights. Well done.

Winner, Best Burger in Boulder City: The Black & Blue Burger (at Chilly Jilly’z)

I’ve had a lot of blue cheese burgers at a lot of places. Second only to a good ruben, a blue cheese bacon burger is one of my all time favorite sandwiches. But Jill has outdone herself with her Black & Blue Burger.

The Black & Blue Burger at Chilly Jilly’z has a full slice of blue cheese that melts over the patty. The strips of bacon are thick and crispy. I don’t care if you go in planning on just eating half. You’ll wake up in a daze 30 minutes later, the whole burger missing.

Jill’s burgers are all excellent, but this one… this one. It’s the winner. Chilly Jilly’z Black & Blue Burger is Boulder City’s best burger.
